And just like that, it will be Easter this weekend. I don’t know why this comes as a surprise because March seems to have been going on forever. However, despite the all consuming current crisis, mother nature is still doing her thing and spring is here. Obviously Easter this year will be different and we’ll be thinking of the loved ones we are separated from. Maybe we can’t spend Easter with the friends and family we were hoping to, but I hope you take time to sit down at the table with the ones you are isolated with or connect online. Whether you are a brunch or a roast lamb lunch person, whether you cook yourself or support a local restaurant by ordering in, a beautifully laid table will lift the spirits.
I am loving the colourful tableware that is around at the moment. Mirroring fashions current obsession with ice-cream and pastel colours these gorgeous hues will add an uplifting pop to your table. Perfect not only for right now, but also for celebrating once the social distancing bans are lifted. These colours will look great on a on a classic white tablecloth or wooden tabletop mixed in with white plates…..or fly your maximalist flag and mix with patterned dishes. Take a look below for my top picks for a colourful Easter tablescape.
`We are in lockdown, at anchor, in Portugal with no address to order things to. But the LSA Gem tumblers and Sophie Conran’s plates are definitely on my wish list.

Plates, Bowls, etc
Shake things up at the dining table Sophie Conran’s Colour Pop tableware. I love the way you can buy a mix of colours, but single colour sets are also available as are some rather fetching egg cups that are white on the outside and sunshine yellow inside. Porcelain with a tough varnish, good for everyday.
For a more serene, but still colourful, vibe try Le Creuset’s Calm collection. The full range includes plates, bowls, mugs, ramekins, spoons and, of course, petite casserole dishes in meringue, shell pink, sea salt and mist grey.

DIY Decorations
Create your own Easter table decorations: hard boil the eggs, allow to cool, protect your surfaces, mix about 20 drops of food colouring with a teaspoon on vinegar and water in a mug – more drops will result in stronger colour – needs to be enough water to cover egg. Leave for about 5 minutes, turning to ensure even coverage. Remove with a slotted spoon and leave to dry. Leave as is or decorate as you wish.
